Most parents and families of autistic children have questions. Here are resources to find the answers you need.
What is ABA?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the science, study, and analysis of behaviors, especially how they relate to your child’s environment. An ABA therapist uses 1-to-1 programs designed around your child’s specific behaviors to decrease challenging ones and increase social and functional skills. What makes ABA so powerful is that therapists create customized plans for each individual child and their family. Unique plans target exactly what you, your child, and your family needs.
What Is Autism?
Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are medical terms for a variety of neuro-developmental behavior disorders. These disorders interfere with many aspects of your child’s daily life. Common symptoms of autism and ASD are repetitive and sometimes disruptive behaviors and difficulty communicating and maintaining social interactions. You may have noticed signs somewhere along the spectrum when your child was a toddler. Symptoms are unique to each child, and different children have different levels of functionality. The earlier you start with a medical diagnosis, assessment, and intervention techniques like ABA, the better your child’s outcome.
